Calculating Density

After finding volume and mass, the next step is to find the density of the slug.

Density=(mass)/(volume)

In our example:

Density=(43.800g/5.14cm3)

Density=8.52g/cm3

You will also be required to calculate the specific gravity of your slug.

Specific Gravity=(Density)/(average density of water)

In our example:

Spec. Gravity=(8.52g/cm3)/(1.80g/cm3)

Specific Gravity=4.73
