When massing a reagent use a weigh boat that has been counterbalanced by rezeroing the scale after the weigh boat is on it. |

| Remove the cap form the bottle and place it face up on the counter to avoid picking up contaminants from the table and to avoid depositing the chemical on the table. |

Use a spatula to take the reagent from the bottle to the weigh boat. If you take more than you need, use the spatula to take the reagent back out of the weigh boat and put it back into the bottle. Do not, however, replace reagents that have been taken back to your table because this could cause contamination.

| Be sure to recap the bottle after you have finished using it. Bottles left open can be contaminated or spilled easily. |
